Cupcake Mania.

I'm not sure why I did this but I signed up to make 130 cupcakes and a wedding cake for Tasha's wedding. I thought I would be able to accomplish this by myself and in one day... what the *&%$ was I thinking??? Luckily my sweet in-laws let me use they're beautiful and very large kitchen to get all of the baking and frosting done. I have to give a very special shout out to Judy and Meagan for the hours of help that they gave me. They were there to wash my bowls, line cupcake pans, clean up, keep me sane, calm me down and even make me laugh every once and awhile. I will forever be in debt to them.
This would have been A LOT easier if so many things didn't go wrong, like...

1.My 9" round cakes stuck to the pan and were completely ruined resulting in a 2nd batch of wedding cake.
2.One of my cupcake pans burned the bottom of 2 dozen white cupcakes resulting in an emergency trip to Harmons for a new pan and another batch of white cupcakes.
3.I decided to try a new chocolate cupcake recipe which I deeply regreted later on. I doubled the batch and started sweating when I saw them spilling over the cupcake pans. This resulted in using another recipe (that I should have used in the first place) and wasting a ton of ingredients.

Other then that, the cupcakes turned out fabulous and the wedding cake even better! Tasha sent me a picture of how she wanted the cake to look and I think it turned out almost exactly like the picture. It's a 4 layered strawberry short cake with whip cream frosting. Delish!

Meagan and I were RUSHING to deliver everything on time and realized we hadn't taken any pictures. We grabbed my camera and took just a few pictures before getting on the road. Thanks Meg for making sure the cake arrived in tact and stayed cool enough.

Congrats to Tasha and Kevin on their marriage! I hope your special day was beautiful and your marriage even more beautiful. I'm glad I could be a small part of it all.

The only shot of the wedding cake... not such great lighting.

There was a banner on the cake in the picture Tasha sent me. We did our best to re-create it and did a pretty good job. The only difference is the font on the word "Love."

Chocolate with chocolate frosting. The cupcake liners are pink and green flowers.

Tasha requesed rainbow chip frosting... it's her favorite. I would have chosen something else but it wasn't my wedding.  =)

All loaded in Judy's BMW. There are more boxes on the back seat. 128 cupcakes total.

P.S- I will never do this ever again.

Comments Fixed!

A couple of people recently told me that they have a hard time leaving comments on my blog. I fixed it today so anyone can comment and it won't ask for your blogger ID. I've had the same problem with other blogs and it's super frustrating! Thanks for informing me.

CRAFT NIGHT!

Oh my goodness I L O V E craft night! It's a great way to get out, have some girl time, eat food and make something super adorable. This is what we made Tuesday night, his name is Ronny and I love him.

Fish Update (because I know you've been concerned)

I'm such a sucker for animals, it's ridiculous. Not a big enough sucker to have like 5 dogs, 12 cats, 3 turtles, 8 birds and 6 hampsters of anything, just big enough to feel sorry for stupid fish. Do fish even have feelings? Do that even know what's going on around them? Someone please answer that for me.
So we bought "Pete" who is approx. 6 inches long and put him in a fish bowl. Well, the next day I was feeling really sad for the dumb fish because he was so big and his home was so tiny. Of course I had to go buy him a 10 gallon fish tank and a little buddy so that he won't be lonely. Of course.
Now we have 2 fish... Pete and Little (named by Hendrix) who are free to roam in a ginormous tank! I was thinking about getting a few more fish because all of the kids that come over LOVE them but realized how smelly fish are while I was cleaning the tank out today. (Side note: It's been like 4 days since we got these little guys and the tank was already cloudy and gross looking.) If TWO fish are stinky, what would FIVE smell like? I don't think I want to know so we're probably just stickin with two.

Little is on the left and Pete is on the right.

I love you, new head band.

I made this head band the other day and couldn't wait long enough for the hot glue to dry before I put it on my head. Why do I swoon over the color yellow so much? Most people think of pee and my sweet mother-in-law loathes anything yellow. Maybe I love it so much because it reminds me of happiness, the sunshine, lemonade and laughter. I find myself a little bit more chipper when I'm wearing the color yellow instead of gray or black which seem to be the dominant colors in my wardrobe. I vote we all start wearing more color... bright colors! Now go and do it.

Sisterhood of Secrets

I feel like there are so many surrounding me who are struggling right now and no one seems to know about it because they don't "look" unhappy or speak up about their struggles and trials. Being in the Relief Society Presidency has opened my eyes and made me see more then I would have ever imagined. My heart breaks for these women who surround me on a daily/weekly basis, who are suffering, struggling and trying to cry out for help but feel like no one is listening. It's a lot of weight on your shoulders knowing these things and trying to figure out a way to help.

I wanted to share a blog with all of you that has inspired me and crushed me all at the same time. This is a blog for secrets. Secrets that woman are have been holding inside for years and are too ashamed or afraid to let them out. These secrets are H U G E and I can't imagine what 1/2 of these woman go through everyday JUST to survive. Whenever I feel like my trial is weighing down on me, I read this blog and it makes me realize that my problems could be much worse and I should be thankful for the things that I have been given. I'm curious to see what you all think of it. Leave me a comment after you've read a few posts.... it's incredibly interesting and you might shed a tear or two. Hendrix's first pet!

We were at Walmart tonight buying wasp killer and we came home with a little bit more then that. I took Hendrix to show him the fish and then decided that he needed to have one! It was so cute, we let him pick which one he wanted (the biggest one there... seriously) and asked him what he was going to name him. "Pete" was the name chosen, LOL! We brought him home, put him in his bowl and gave him some food. Jordan thinks he's going to die in 1 day but I think he'll live for awhile because he's so ginormous! I guess we'll see!

 Hendrix and his FIRST pet.

 I love this picture.

Welcome to our home Pete!
